Late Night Ponderings: Re-appearing profiles
A thing I commonly find myself wondering about are people who create a profile, delete it, then remake it and specifically on a frequent cadence.
Particularly when it is posted with nothing changed except the name and no explanation as to what happened to the last one. Like three times in like two months. I don’t know if this is a peculiar phenomenon in the southeastern US (where I observed it) or if it is something more like a form of witness protection.
Who knows? Maybe some random man flying about through space and time in a phone booth from Cardiff will tell me, but then again, if that happens I will have other questions that take priority.

1/23/2020 4:58 AMI can't figure it out but I guessed they either:
-Keep trying to quit, but can't.
-Are shutting their profile down because they think someone they know might be looking for it (and they don't know about disabling).
-Have hissy fits when something doesn't go their way and "rage quit".
-Talk shit big time... then run away when its actually time to fight.

1/22/2020 11:58 PMThere is a guy who recently posted a blog asking for boxers. He messaged me last year when my account was resticted until I verified it. I read his message to me but I was unable to reply. He then sends me a message that stated that I was rude and my mamie didn't raise me right. I was not all that. He plan to wait until I forgot and arrange a meet when I don't know it was him and that will be the last I would be heard of. He went into graphic details about how he was going to dismember me. I flagged it to MF. The message was removed. This year, he sends me a friendly message and questions. I answered then refreshed his memory about his past threats. He denied it and blocked me. He changed his profile but the small city and the pic is the same.

First off: wow. I can’t believe that this person exists.
Second: isn’t it funny how people don’t account for long memory?
Third: makes sense that the bad person would block you. *sigh*

1/22/2020 1:30 PMI’ve almost become the “Repeat offender patrol”. There’s a particular guy in London who’s had more accounts than Barclays Bank. Same pics, talks a good game then swans off. A complete waste of everyone ‘s time as he claims he wants matches. The same applies to another in Manchester, Edinburgh and Northern Ireland. When you’ve rumbled them, they either won’t reply to your messages and/or block you.

1/22/2020 1:18 PMNo, the phenomenon is not unique to the south-eastern United States. Some people here on the other side of the Pond also seem to come and go, appear, disappear, re-appear ... and it's difficult to imagine why. Good luck to them, though: it'd be nice to think that having once left they find they just can't manage without us!
Another thing which sometimes puzzles me is "recommendation removed" which one sometimes sees in the detailed list of recent changes (accessible from the bottom of the MF home page). Maybe a real name is mentioned which the opponent would prefer to keep private. Fair enough: quick way to remedy this - remove recommendation. But sometimes a recommendation which seems entirely positive is removed - whether by the writer or the opponent I don't know. Intriguing - but we'll probably never know the circumstances!
But I continue to think our site is wonderful, offering as it does such choice, flexibility and autonomy to us, its members. Thank you, MF.
