Yes love the idea of reliving the old wos stuff and reffing or have a ref --- do all the intros for each wrestler etc. Great

A ref just makes it all the better, have never refereed but would love to do it, also if your in a hold or applying one it gives that extra bit of excitement with the ref asking "do you submit" "it's up to you" "do you give" and the wrestler shouting "NO REF NO" would be great if you could get the group going

Acted as ref in a pro-style bout at Pippas in Manchester earlier this year, but came about spontaneously cos there were 3 of us there, so just made sense to do it. It was really fun and great cos you can get up close to see the holds and the sweat! After a while my mates who were wrestling really got into it and started the "ask him ref" and "tell him ref" stuff and it just flowed. So for us it all added to the experience. I'd like to do it again definitely, see my earlier post on this!

One of the things that made World of Sport bouts so distinctive was the referee. You were always given the impression that a ref was really in charge of the bout and this helped make British wrestling look at home on WoS along side other sports. Watching those bouts now, you can see what a difference a ref like Max Ward made either with his unforgettable counts of "ooonnnee, twwwooo, thrrreee" or when he was "telling off" some rule bending heel and giving them a public warning !

Has anyone wrestled a WoS style bout using a referee ? For those who have - what was it like ? how did it work ? and was it a success ? For those (like me) who have not - what sort of referee would you be looking for ? and how would you want it to work ?
