DIY boxing ring

a friend of mine put some sort of plastic sheet on the ground in his backyard and added ropes with stakes on four corners.

A friend with limited space in his gym created a portable ring by adding ropes and some sort of padded stakes around the area on his mat. I'm not sure how he secured them though.

That's cool but I was thinking of something less permanent that I can assemble and disassemble everytime I have an opponent over

I've made rings in 2 houses with large rooms by lag screwing short 2x4 sections across two wall studs, then putting a lag eye into the 2x4s at 45 degrees to make each a ring post. Then hang the turnbuckles and ropes from the lag eyes. That is relatively permanent though, as you don't want to be taking lag screws in and out.

I had two different rings in my life time, the first one was permanent in my basement, full size. I built a platform with four corner posts bolted to the joists of the upper floor. Then I had 3 heavy eye rings into each post and hung the turnbuckles and ropes from the post, ropes were nice and tight.

The second ring was in another house which had no basement, so I used one of the garage stalls for a ring that could be taken down and setup within 15-20 minutes. I located the wall joists and screwed the 3 heavy eye rings directly through the wall board and into the 2x4 joists. These rings where left in the walls when I would take the ring down. The turnbuckles and ropes could be hung and tightened up for use when the ring was needed. I never had any problems with the eye rings loosening up so it worked out great.

I actually made the padded top rope that is used in both rings, as for the middle and bottom ropes, I purchased 3/4" rope then wrapped each rope with rolls of electrical tape, it wasn't as expensive or time consuming that you may think.

I will attach a few pics of the rings that I had. Please log in to view gallery photos.

Looks great! Unfortunately I live in a rented apartment and don't have access to a garage so it's gonna have to be more DIY haha

No, that was before digital cameras, and I don't think I ever took pictures of the structure.

Hey has anyone ever attempted to craft their own boxing ring at home? I’m thinking about putting together a makeshift indoor boxing ring that could fit in my living room which I could collapse and assemble whenever I have an opponent over, would appreciate some tips or examples. Doesn’t need to be super fancy - in fact, the more home made it looks the sexier it is to me 😈🥊
